It is Monday, and everyone is back to work. The Lift Team is all hear in their orange
shirts getting us a more dependable power source. I am back in the Maternity Ward and the
outpatient clinics (and the OR). Even
the Vendors are here selling their wares.
This is a hive of activity.
On rounds this morning I found out that unfortunately one of
the premature babies died. It is very
sad, but I know we did the best we could for her. The rest of the patients on the maternity
ward seem to be doing well. There are
some things that are different on Maternity than at home. There is no one to one nursing which means we
have to be very careful about how we get women in to labour. Especially if they have already had 7 or 8
children.
Things are different in the Clinic as well. Sometimes women don’t come in for their first
prenatal visit until after 30 weeks! It happens at home occasionally too, but
far more often here. It is hard to know
how far along the pregnancy really is at that point, but we do the best we can
with ultrasound.
The venders are happy that there are so many people here
right now. It’s good for their business. You are supposed to bargain with them (not so
much for the food, more for the art work) but I don’t think I am very good at
that.
Paperwork is also very different here. For one thing, it is mostly in French, and
for another we use a lot more paper here.
I guess I have finally gotten used to electronic records, and I have to
remember back to before I had an EMR. I
am starting to remember more things from last year and I think the pace is
going faster sooner.

you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human
