Hausa Church

Some of the staff went to Hausa Church yesterday.  It is the church right across the highway from the Hospital compound.  For those of you that read my blog last year you will know what I am talking about.  Last year the preacher was a visiting preacher that spoke in Hausa and it was translated in to French.  This year the preacher spoke in French and it was translated in to English – By Josh Fredericksen one of the Docs. I also think I heard someone at the back translating in to Hausa.  The message was on Matthew 11:25-28, and he asked “How can we be restored by the Word of God”.  It was very enjoyable and far ranging.  The songs were all in French, but there were song books (in French).  At the end they asked all the visitors to stand up and introduce themselves.  The LIFT team were all there and Josh translated what they said in to French.  I introduced myself in French and Josh translated in to English 😊.

I think I mentioned something about a chameleon.  There was one close to the air strip the other day and I took some pictures.  There are lots of herds of livestock around as well.  It is mostly a farming community around here, and the fresh produce and meat is quite good actually.  Anyways – back to the chameleon.  I know they are supposed to change colours, but this one didn’t.  They are a “clade” of “Old World Lizard” apparently and there are 202 species.  There are also lots of other lizards – ones that look like salamanders are everywhere!  There are snakes as well including Cobras, but I have not seen any as yet.

Church in the compound yesterday evening was also wonderful.  We sang (in English) and Joe Starke gave a sermon on David – “The art of Dodging Spears”.  There was a lot of room for self reflection and he gave some personal examples in his professional life that impacted me greatly.

Psalm 22:22 ESV
I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you
